GQ officially declared the point collar dead (to which I actually agree). Long live the spread collar?

Sure, all types of spread collars generally (and the cutaway collar specifically) have surpassed the point collar in popularity over the last 15 years or so. But I don’t believe this is conclusive evidence of the point collar’s death, per se. Generally, I believe that only fads and trends plainly and truly die—classic dress will suffer dormant periods, sure, but will always float around in our subconscious until a tastemaker such as Nick Wooster or Michael Bastian busts it out at NYFW Two thousand and something.
Now I’m not saying to go out and hoard all the most aggressive point collars you can find until 2021. Just don’t be so quick to write something off because some dude in an ivory tower over at some magazine said something negative about them.
